Director Sini Hirvi peeling potatoes. The mothers who come to the home get food, shelter and help with their problems with drugs and other addictions.

Suvi Vintturi, another director organizing the patient files. Firsthome Iida is one of the few homes that allow fathers to live with the mothers and the babies.

Kalle Ropponen has designed the sets for upcoming "Kokkola" play in the Kokkola citytheatre. Above he is pictured in the moonlight scene, with the artificial moon in the background. And below is the bar set. More about the play later.

Millmaster Jouko Maki-Petaja demonstrated the functions of the old mill. The mill was used for grinding flour, and making shingles for roofs (below).

Culture night at Pietarsaari had lots of activities for children. Kids running a friendly race (eventhough few of them got stomped!).

Miss Pietarsaari got her crown at the event, ironically she was from Kokkola.

Bakers Leea and Ulf Fagerudd spend their spare time dancing. The story was about how much hobby courses cost and how easy it is to get in. This photograph was featured as the frontpage main picture.

Liisa Sipi is the owner of the last villagestore in Himanka. She lives in the same building with her family.

The store operates in two floors, the hardware goods are in the cellar. Groceries and video rentals in the main floor.

The store has a dedicated section for horses in the cellar.

KESKIPOHJANMAA: Eating disorder conference. 29 Aug 2008 Posted by Leinonen.

Brita Kotala has struggled with bulimia for 14 years, but now has recovered and working to raise awareness and help families who struggle with eating disorders.
We were also struggling on a very basic level when making the paper she appeared in. Before she agreed, we didn't have a true frontpage picture. Luckily it all came together.

By the way, today is the day that I will no longer be working for Keskipohjanmaa. My job is officially done for this summer! It was a great time learning, getting to know people and working together. I'd like to thank everyone who I worked with here. Extra special thanks for Jukka and everyone for having the balls to give a guy a chance.

The WORK blog will continue going on daily since I still have a lot of material to post here. And we both have work related sets coming to Strap during the fall.
After a while the regular blog will come back on the frontpage again. Thanks for everyone who checked our work out during the summer!

KESKIPOHJANMAA: Teemu Wirkkala in the olympics. 28 Aug 2008 Posted by Leinonen.

Teemu Wirkkala from Toholampi area was performing in the olympic javelin throwing competition. People gathered at Toholampi town hall to watch the event.

It wasn't the greatest idea to try and shoot the tv broadcast. It doesn't really pop out of the canvas because of various issues.

The competition offered people of Toholampi a variety of emotions, from joy to disappointment as Wirkkala proceeded to finals and other finnish participants failed to get the results expected.

Wirkkala's sister could hardly sit on her seat.
